Construction will begin on the widening of KLO Road, from Gordon Drive to just east of Benvoulin Road, on Monday July 11th, 2005. The first phase of construction will take place at the KLO/Benvoulin intersection and while every effort will be made to expedite the project and minimize the traffic impact, drivers should expect delays. Motorists should also note that construction is occurring at the Benvoulin/Cooper Road intersection and that Byrns Road is closed. Motorists are encouraged to use Gordon Drive to avoid construction delays.
When complete, the widening of KLO will offer many functional and aesthetic improvements including:
Two lanes in each direction with one centre turn lane on KLO; Dual left turn lanes from east bound KLO to north bound Benvoulin; An additional north bound through lane on Benvoulin across KLO; Sidewalks and bike lanes on both sides of KLO; Concrete curbs and gutters; and Improved street lighting. The construction contract was awarded to Peters Bros. Construction Ltd. for approximately $3.99 million. Stantec Consulting is the Contract Administrator.
Substantial completion of the project is expected in November 2005, with the final lift of asphalt expected next spring.

Cant stop a city from growing so you might as well suck it up or get out of town because its people like you that take away the potential growth that Kelowna needs. Hey if you like the traffic and congestion and want every road to be 2 lanes go ahead and fight it. But the rest of us civilized people would rather have 4 lanes and smooth traffic.

And the more this city grows in terms of population the worse traffic congestion will get and the more roads that will have to be four-laned until, yes, all of Kelowna is paved over.

As always, you dim lights here at MoveKelownaForward try to make John Zeger the issue because you have nothing meaningful to say. The issue here is that the ultimate cause of traffic congestion in Kelowna is the continuing large increases in population. Now what do you have to say about the issue?

The ultimate cause of the problem was the lack of foresight of traffic planning back in the 70's and 80's. If the road network had been properly planed back then, we would not have the problems occurring today. As the city expands, we should be taking a pro-active approach not a re-active approach.

Hey guest...maybe to stop the traffic problems we erect a wall around the city so no more people will be abl to move in here...that will solve your traffic woes
