City Council is expected to award the contract to Peter Bro's for the upgrade to Gordon Dr.
Construction to upgrade Gordon Drive from Dehart Road to Thorneloe Road, Paret Road from Thorneloe Road to Stonybrook Road and Stonybrook Road from Paret Road east.
It is suppose to last from Mid-August to the end of September.

Peters Bros. Construction Ltd. was awarded a $3,585,865 contract to upgrade Gordon Drive (including parts of Paret Road and Stonybrook Road) to a three lane urban standard between Dehart Road and Stonybrook Road. Construction will begin by mid-August and be complete by end of November 2005.

Construction Begins on Gordon Drive

Construction will begin on improvements to Gordon Drive, between Dehart and Stonybrook Roads, on Monday August 15th, 2005.
From August 17th to September 5th, Gordon Drive will be closed to through traffic from Dehart to McClure Road in order to accommodate the construction of sidewalk, bike lanes, curb and gutter prior to the beginning of the new school year. During this time Dehart Road, just east of Gordon, will be reduced to one lane with alternating traffic. In addition, a four-way stop will be in operation at the intersection of McClure and Lakeshore Roads to enable traffic to enter Lakeshore or McClure safely during the closure of Gordon.
The road improvements involve the widening of Gordon to three travel lanes; one lane in each direction with a centre two-way left turn lane. Sidewalks, bike lanes, curb, gutter and drainage will also be added. A major gas pipeline which crosses both Dehart and Gordon will be inspected and replaced, or relocated, as necessary. In addition, a new connection to the upper Mission will be created through Stonybrook Road and the narrow, curving Paret Road Hill will be closed to vehicle traffic.
The purpose of the project is to improve traffic flow and property access, while at the same time providing a safer connection between the upper and lower Mission.
Work on Gordon Drive is being completed as part of the 20 Year Servicing Plan and plans call for further improvements between Old Meadows and Dehart Roads in 2006.
The construction contract was awarded to Peters Bros. Construction Ltd. for approximately $3.59 million. EarthTech Canada is the Contract Administrator.
Substantial completion of the project is expected in November 2005.

i'm watching this right now, the work is right near my house, and i am delighted to see the improvements being made. i suppose i need to thank maple heath estates (being built right there) for the improvements in this area.
gordon drive is a much nicer road than lakeshore, and should be the main artery into the mission. i can't wait untill the entire road is upgraded.
