It has been reported that a lower mainland businessman plans to build a 200 million resort with Big White’s first highrise hotel. The hotel is rumored to be 17 storey’s and will hopefully include 8000-10,000 foot casino and another 10,000 feet of commercial space. The location he is looking at is at the base of the new high speed 6 person chairlift. This development will depend on the approvals of the Kootenay Boundary Regional District.

That's awesome. It would be cool to have a highrise and casino and stuff added to the town center. Soon it will be its own city haha.

Just thought I'd drop this little tidbit of info. regarding the development at Big White. Apparently it's going to be a 400+ room hotel, 17 storeys, and contain a convention centre and casino. Very cool for Big White - now the next question remains, when is the Province going to fix Highway 33 leading up to Big White - nothing can kill business faster than a poor traffic connection. Especially regarding the convention business. The full article is located here: www.kelownadailycourier.ca/article_4623.php
