Well, there's a Home Depot, Canadian Tire, and other smaller stores under construction right now. By fall of 2007 there will be a brand new real canadian super store coming to westbank. There is now a proposel for the largest Walmart in Canada to be built across the highway from the new Home Depot and I have no doubt that this will be approved also. One of the most exciting developments happening in westbank is the 4 towers being built kinda behind the Mcdonalds. These 4 towers are being built by medican. The buildings will be 10, 11, 14, and 18 storeys with 4 storey town houses all around and by the towers. The last development that I know of right now is the Aria development going in by the Vintage Hills golf course. This project is a huge 4 storey apartment complex. Here's the website for the Aria complex. www.arialiving.com/home.html

^The four towers, 18, 14, 11, and 10 stories, are going to be built behing Mcdonald's and that Acorn plaza office building. The towers will be built on what is currently a christmas tree farm. And no, I don't have a website for it. I've been searching for one forever but can't find anything. I heard the project was being built by a company called "Medican" or something, but when I search for medican on google it just says, "Do you mean Medical?" It's so annoying!!!

Yes, google can be annoying that way. To solve that put quotes around the word. Here is the website - though no info yet: www.medican.comDo u know when construction is suppose to start?

Quotes around the word eh? I'll remember that.
I'm pretty sure that they will be starting construction on the tallest tower in the spring. The new "Canada's Largest Wal-mart" and the real canadian superstore along with other smaller buisnesses will start construction around that time.

this story was reported on castanet this morning.
Westside Booming by Wayne Moore - Story: 30283 May 30, 2007 / 5:00 am
The construction boom on the Westside isn't showing any signs of slowing down.
The Central Okanagan Regional District has approved development permits for three major projects totaling 779 residential units.
The largest of these developments is a 717 unit project on nearly eight hectares of property adjacent to Witt, Carrington and Majoros Roads near Westbank. It will include a number of three and four storey buildings as well as four towers of 10, 11, 14 and 18 storeys.
Regional District Communications Coordinator, Bruce Smith, says this is the largest development ever approved for the Westside.
He adds board was very impressed with the proposal.
"There was even one neighbour that spoke Monday who had extreme concerns about the project. He actually thanked the developer for working with the neighbourhood and addressing all of their concerns," says Smith.
The Medican Group of Companies out of Alberta is spearheading the project.
Medican has two other large developments planned for Lake Country.
Two other smaller projects also received development permits, including a 42-unit project adjacent to Westlake Road and a 20-unit development fronting Okanagan Lake near Green Bay Road.
Smith says construction has been booming on the Westside the last number of years. Per capita, he says the Westside is on par or even ahead of Kelowna in terms of development.
"It's been very busy the last number of years. Each year we've set records for building permits and the cost of those permits continues to increase with the rise in construction costs."
The three developments still require building permits before ground breaking can begin.
Meantime, the Regional Board also approved a zoning amendment for a proposed four building 142-unit apartment complex adjacent to Daimler Drive and Auburn Road.

Here's the renderings in the letter that were sent out to the residents around that area of westbank last year. Credit to my good buddy, wisla_krakow at Skyscraperpage forums who lives near this new development.
