Here's some more news on that new 21 storey proposal going in between the 26-storey tower and the 20-storey Westin. I'm just loving the design and look of the building. Stoked for these new towers!

New developer takes run at highrise project
By Shelley Nicholl Staff Reporter
Only a few months after everyone who bought a unit in the scrubbed Icon highrise near Prospera Place had their deposits returned, the project has been resuscitated by another owner.
The marketing campaign will have to begin all over again.
“It’s starting from scratch,” said local realtor Bart Dyck, who is expecting to have the sales office open early in the new year.
The new owner, Woodfield Development Corp. from Calgary, bought the property this summer and is hoping to start construction in the spring and take two years to finish.
The big mound of pre-load material is in place to settle the ground for a 21-storey, 93-suite structure.
That’s one storey higher than it’s upcoming neighbour, a 218-unit Westin Hotel, on the former Canada Lands properties, that is expected to be completed in 2008.
The tower will look much the same as the original design, with a modern, urban feel.
“It will be similar,” said Dyck. “There will be five floor plans per floor and lots of light with floor to ceiling windows. It will be very contemporary.”
On the lower level, there will be seven townhouses around the front and 86 units in the tower for a total of 93 one- and two-bedroom homes, starting at 900 square feet.
Although the prices haven’t been set, as with the former project, it will be marketed as a high-end choice, complete with a 24-hour concierge service.
It may appeal to locals as well as those from Calgary or Vancouver who are looking for a vacation spot close to the action but without any yard work.
“We’re expecting quite a few out-of-town buyers,” said Dyck.
The former owners from Vancouver began selling the project in the summer of 2004, with future owners expecting to be moving in within a few years.
There were several pre-sales for the 89 suites available.
Icon backed off the project and then decided to sell it. Now, those prospective owners will have to start over if they are still interested.
Dyck assures potential buyers that the new company taking over will complete as planned. Woodfield Developments built the 16-storey Park Place tower and is currently working on The Lofts, an 11-storey downtown apartment complex that should be finished in the spring.
The new tower in the Brandt’s Crossing site is being adjusted slightly from the original plans.
A variance is needed to add the 21st floor and there will be a few more logistics to take care of before the project can be officially launched.

It is one storey higher than the previously announced new Westin Hotel to be built on a neighbouring site. Construction of the new highrise tower is expected to be completed by 2008, according to the developer.
