There is a new proposed 7 storey commercial building to be built on 1652-1678 Pandosy which is somewhere around the parkade. If anyone has any more info on this that would be great.

These addresses are right behind the Husky gas station. It use to be the "new fellowship church". I rode by it on tuesday night and noticed it had already been torn down. I did not know it was a proposed 7 story commercial building. We will see if we can get some more information on it.

^I just noticed that too. That's an awesome location for this building because that whole area is in need of an upgrade. And going up is always great, especially for Downtown.

I heard a good idea about a portion of Leon...
Make it a non vehicle accessed road and decoratively brick it completely from Abbot to Pandosy. In the summer put vendors out there. Get some trendy shops / eateries down there... get some art out on the street.
Victoria, Brisbane and many other cities have an area like this in their downtown core. Image the tourists you'd get out on crummy Leon... an area usually avoided.
It's an idea anyways...

Welcome volcomp!! Glad you are here.
I could be an idea - but there are a lot of hurdles. Firstly the area really doesn't have a good heritage architecture to make it work - but one could do a modern strip. But the bad elements would have to be solved first before that could even be contemplated.
Cheers...
